Components for pneumatic rotary actuators
Mecal’s experience in manufacturing pinions, drive shafts, pistons and racks and pneumatic rotating cylinders, is also available for the most demanding actuator manufacturers.
The company manufactures square shape, double square (star) shape sprockets with female power take-off in accordance with standards ISO 5211/DIN337, drilled with drive keyway, pinions with shaft, pinions with threaded end and other shapes upon customer request. Thanks to its continuous product improvement research and to its knowledge of rotary pneumatic actuators, Mecal srl is able to make O-Ring seats and sliding seats of the pads with roughness lower than 0.6 micron.
Rotary pneumatic actuators are devices used to convert pneumatic energy into rotary motion. They are used in industrial automation to operate valves, close or open rotary mechanisms and perform other similar functions.
WHAT ARE ROTARY PNEUMATIC ACTUATORS?
Rotary pneumatic actuators consist of a number of fundamental components. One of these is a pneumatic cylinder which may contain one or more pistons. When compressed air is introduced into the cylinder, the piston moves, generating a force which is converted into rotary motion. The rotary motion of the pneumatic actuator can be transmitted to another part of the system via an output shaft. This shaft can be connected directly to the mechanism that is to be driven or it can be used to transmit motion through gears or belts.
What are rotary pneumatic actuators used for?
Rotary pneumatic actuators are often used to control the opening and closing of valves in industrial plants. They can be used to control the flow of fluids or gases, regulate pressure or isolate certain sections of a system. They are used to make rotational movements on mechanical components such as blades, arms or shafts and are used to drive conveyor belts, turn cutting devices or perform other operations that require rotational movement.
They also have ample space in the industrial automation sector. Finally, pneumatic rotary actuators are often employed to provide rotational motion to robot joints and articulations. They can enable robots to perform a wide range of movements such as bending, extending and turning, making it possible for them to perform complex operations and various tasks. In general, pneumatic rotary actuators are essential in various industries where controlled and reliable rotary motion is required. Their simplicity, reliability and durability make them a popular choice for a variety of applications.
Types of pneumatic rotary actuators
Mecal srl manufactures pinions for rotary pneumatic actuators of different sizes: from the smallest up to a maximum diameter of 180×600. The materials used are carbon steel (W.nr. 1.0715-1.0718-1.0736-1.0737), stainless steel (AISI 303-AISI 316) and super alloys (inconel, hastelloy). All manufacturing is performed in-house at the company.
What are rotary pneumatic actuators used for?
Rotary pneumatic actuators are used where a rotary movement of 90° to 270° is required. These actuators are mostly used in the chemical, petroleum, food industries and, more generally, where precise and safe control of a valve is required.
